What is BNF? Also called Bind N Fly or Bind & Fly
Bind N Fly Guide
Bind-N-Fly is much more than just another category or completion level of RC aircraft, like ARF or RTF. It’s a revolution in ready-to-fly convenience that RC enthusiasts everywhere have been waiting for. A revolution that is only possible because of Spektrum 2.4 DSM technology.
One Transmitter, Endless Fun!
With a single Spektrum or JR DSM aircraft transmitter you hold the key to the whole world of Bind-N-Fly aircraft that includes everything from tiny Blade helicopters to powerful ParkZone warbirds. That’s because all Bind-N-Fly aircraft come out of the box with a Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM receiver built-in. All you have to do is:
- Choose a Bind-N-Fly airplane or helicopter
- Bind it to your DSM aircraft transmitter
- Fly
New Bind-N-Fly aircraft are appearing all the time from the biggest names in RC flight such as E-flite, ParkZone and Blade. You can see the entire selection of available Bind-N-Fly airplanes and helicopters by using the menu on the left of the site.
Don’t Pay for What You Don’t Need
Bind-N-Fly aircraft reduce the cost of ready-to-fly fun because they don’t include a transmitter that you don’t need. You only get the airplane or heli you’re interested in and any accessories necessary to get it flying. You’ll save money and space on your transmitter shelf at the same time.
Binding is the simple process by which you set up the Bind-N-Fly airplane or heli you have chosen to respond to a specific DSM aircraft transmitter. Once youve bound a DSM transmitter to a Bind-N-Fly aircraft, you dont have to do it again. The exclusive Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM technology that makes Bind-N-Fly possible ensures that aircraft will only connect with the DSM transmitter it has been bound to until you bind it to a different DSM transmitter.
Binding takes just seconds and is so easy, just about anyone can do it regardless of their RC experience. The basics of the binding process are the same for all Bind-N-Fly aircraft:
- Power up the Bind-N-Fly airplane or heli in bind mode
- Power up your DSM aircraft transmitter in bind mode
- Wait several seconds for the bind process to complete
The only real difference in the binding process between specific DSM transmitters and Bind-N-Fly aircraft is how you access bind mode for each. And while any Spektrum or JR DSM aircraft transmitter can be bound to any Bind-N-Fly airplane or heli, there are some limitations on what Bind-N-Fly aircraft can be flown with the DSM transmitters included with certain ready-to-fly aircraft.
For complete details on binding specific DSM transmitters to specific Bind-N-Fly aircraft visit the Aircraft section of this site and look for the "Binding Instructions" link next to each aircraft. Compatibility Table
Use this chart to determine what Bind-N-Fly aircraft can be flown with the 2.4GHz transmitter that came with your ready-to-fly airplane or helicopter. Many of the transmitters were not designed for use with larger, faster park flyers and have limited range.
The Spektrum DX6i, DX7s & DX8 will fly all the models listed below:
